Legs & Co. – Let’s Go Disco

Top of the Pops, 25 May 1978: Legs & Co. dance to Let’s Go Disco by The Real Thing.

We have two performances by Legs & Co. to this song: one from Top of the Pops:

…and another from the movie The Stud:

Both feature Floid as a guest dancer.

As far as I can tell, the choreography is pretty much the same: but there are interesting differences in the treatment. In the movie, the girls are wearing a variety of glamourous party outfits, though Sue, Gill and Patti’s sequins are the more stagey end of glamour, particularly the skimpiness of Patti’s clobber. But then, this is the the world of Joan Collins movies, at least a two steps away from mundane reality.

The TOTP outfits are very much professional-dancer rehearsal wear, very fashionable around this time and soon to go mainstream with the movie Fame in 1980.

But with the band as the focus in both performances, we never really get more than the occasional look at the dancers. A shame, but then the producers priorities are naturally not the same as ours.

Thanks to pansrubylegs and ASmK for the YouTube posts.
