Top of the Pops Playback: Top Ten Pan’s People Routines

Babs Lord, Ruth Pearson and Dee Dee Wilde from Pan’s People appear on Top of the Pops Playback, Shaun Tilley’s BBC local radio show, discussing their all-time top ten favourite routines.

from the old blog, Sunday, 27 July 2014:

Following up my post last week of the Top of the Pops Playback interview with members of Legs & Co, here, from the same broadcast is another treat: Shaun Tilley interviews Babs Lord, Ruth Pearson and Dee Dee Wilde from Pan’s People as they pick their Top 10 favourite TOTP dance routines. It’s another fascinating hour of gossip, chat, memories and laughter. Frokm 4th May 2014

Once again, I’m embedding Andeebee’s post of the whole show from his dailymotion One for the Dads channel.

Frustratingly, I do not have video of all of the performances that they discuss on this blog. But here are seven that I do have of the ten, plus Sean’s personal favourite.

Once again Shaun played the Top Ten performances in reverse, i.e. countdown mode:

  1. Barbra Streisand: Stoney End
  2. First Choices: Smarty Pants:
I’ve no recording of this performance, but there’s a short clip available on YouTube.
  3. Status Quo: Down Down: A legendary lost performance:
I have no recording of it that I can post here. Harrumph.
  4. Barry White: You’re My First, My last, My Everything (the christmas day version)
  5. Ike & Tina Turner: Nutbush City Limits
  6. Gilbert O’Sullivan: Get Down
  7. Carly Simon: You’re So Vain
  8. George Harrison: My Sweet Lord
  9. Simon & Garfunkel: Bridge Over Troubled Water.
From their description, this would be a great performance to watch: unfortunately, I’ve never even seen so much a clip.
  10. Chi-Lites: Homely Girl

Plus Shaun’s Favourite: Monster Mash

If anyone out there can help me find these missing performances to post, I’d be undyingly grateful.

Listen on Dailymotion – thanks again to Andeebee
