Pan’s People – You’re So Vain

Top of the Pops, February 1 1973: Pan’s People dance to Carly Simon’s You’re So Vain.

pan’s People play gossiping partygoers, sitting on and dancing around a chaise lounge.

This is another routine often cited by those critical of “literal choreography”. Myself, I can’t get too worked up. Given the subject matter, the whole second-person-singular critical nature of the lyric, I think integrating mime as a large proportion of the choreography is entirely apt. Nice posh party frocks too.
