I remember there were letters to the Radio Times complaining that this routine was “inappropriate” for a show aimed at children.

This routine featured as No. 1 in Legs & Co.’s Top of the Pops Playback, Top Ten routines:
Sue: “Mary Whitehouse hated it: she actually rang in and complained – again. But it was a great number, such an iconic Free song: and Paul Rodgers – what a great voice.”
Lulu: “…we were wearing fishnet stockings, which were really sexy: but we had very big satin polka-dot knickers on as well.”
